At the World Economic Forum on 31 January 1999, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan launched this international initiative aimed at private enterprise. Its goal is to get private-sector enterprises to join forces with UN agencies in the promotion of 10 principles focused on Human Rights, labour, the environment and the fight against corruption. Through this group action, the Global Compact promotes responsible behaviour as one of the solutions to the challenges of globalisation, for sustainable economic development. To assert its commitment to this initiative, ACTUARIS produces an annual document detailing the actions implemented in support of the principles of the Global Compact within the firm and in its relationships with its clients and suppliers.

ACTUARIS CEO Pierre Arnal hoisted the colours of the firm at the top of the world in April 2005. With an international expedition led by Alain Hubert (a world-renowned polar explorer), he reached the geographical North Pole by skiing on 12 April 2005 at 14:00 GMT. In April 2006, Pierre Arnal set out for Greenland, 3 years after his first expedition in the same region of Liverpool Land. We invite you to go to the News section to admire the magnificent photos brought back from this expedition. In April 2007, Pierre Arnal and Yves Couturier (CNP) went on a trip to Svalbard, combining meetings with scientists and people involved in the fight against global warming, and a week of trekking to discover the peaks of the archipelago.
